HP Outs New Chromebook 11 G6 & Chromebook 14 G5

HP has outed the new Chromebook 11 G6 and the new Chromebook 14 G5, two new Chrome OS laptops which is will be showing off at CES 2018 in the coming few days. Both laptops are expected to launch at retail at some point in February of this year, though a specific launch date wasn’t mentioned nor was pricing for either model of Chromebook. Both of these are set to be geared towards the enterprise market and education market, so there’s a chance that the cost won’t be too high as HP will want to keep the pricing affordable enough to look good to those two groups of consumers, considering purchases would likely be made for more than just one unit.

Both Chromebooks will be using USB Type-C but will have standard USB A ports for plugging in the older cable type, and it looks like there will be two USB C and two USB A ports, with one of each on the right and left sides of the laptop. In addition the ports will be placed more towards the hinge of the Chromebooks as opposed to being near the palm rests like on past models.

Details weren’t listed for all of the configurations when it comes to RAM and storage but the RAM will go up to 8GB and the storage will go up to 64GB, which is quite a bit on both fronts. Both the Chromebook 11 G6 and the Chromebook 14 G5 will also be powered by Intel’s 7th generation Celeron N processors, come with Intel HD Graphics 500, and come with MIL-STD 810G ratings which means they’ll be more durable for workplace and education settings. Both will also come with an option to upgrade to a model with a 180-degree hinge so it’ll lay flat, which will be perfect for sharing one laptop between two students or two coworkers, and the Chromebook 11 G6 will come in both a dark gray model and one that with an orange trim, while the Chromebook 14 G5 will come in just the dark gray model. You’ll find 3.5mm audio ports on both models as well as expandable storage support through microSD cards if more storage space is needed beyond what’s available internally.
