The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s leaked two times thus far, and even though both of those leaks looked fake, a new rumor is claiming that the device may launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Xiaomi will attend MWC 2018, as was confirmed by the official website of that tradeshow, though we’re still not sure what is the company planning to announce. Most people are betting that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be announced in Barcelona, but this new rumor pushes the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s forward, read on.
The first Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s image (render) appeared back in November, and it showed off a phone which had extremely thin bezels, and a front-facing camera which is located in the upper-right corner of the phone’s display. The second image essentially showed off the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 with an iPhone X-like notch, and as already mentioned, both of them seemed rather fake. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s is actually rumored to be a new version of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 which was announced last year, though it’s also rumored to sport a somewhat different design than the Mi MIX 2. That handset is also expected to ship with the Snapdragon 845, at least if rumors are to be believed, while very thin bezels are also rumored. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s is reportedly codenamed ‘Polaris’ within the company, and in addition to being fueled by the Snapdragon 845, it is also rumored to sport 6GB of RAM, and a dual camera setup on its back. The phone will sport two 12-megapixel shooters, if rumors are to be believed, while it is also said to be smaller than the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. Rumors are also saying that the device will ship with a rather odd display aspect ratio, saying that the phone will sport a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio, and its pricing is rumored to start at 3,000 Yuan ($466).
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s still seems like a vague rumor than anything else, as we did not really see any info from a well-known source, though the doors remain open, of course. It is more likely that the company will opt to introduce the Xiaomi Mi 7 during MWC 2018, as it did with the Xiaomi Mi 5 back in 2016. As most of you know, Xiaomi skipped MWC 2017 entirely, but it is making a comeback this year.
