SimplySmart Home Unveils No-Installation Security Solutions – CES 2018

Switchmate has taken to CES 2018 to announce two new home security systems under its SimplySmart Home branding that won’t require installation and which the company says can be set up in less than two minutes. Better still, neither system will break the bank, as both are priced at under $250 and one of the two systems – namely the SimplySmart Home Cube – is available for purchase in the U.S. and Canada as of yesterday for just $149.99. The Cube is listed to be sold at Macy’s, Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Lowe’s, Walmart.com, HomeDepot.com, Spring Wireless, London Drugs, and Amazon, though it’s presently listed as being out of stock. Meanwhile, the SimplySmart Home Security System is being previewed at the Las Vegas trade show and will become available in late February for $229.99.

As to the systems themselves, the Cube is effectively an unwired HD Security Camera that features both two-way audio and doorbell functionality, in addition to motion sensing technology. Doorbell activation doesn’t require a new doorbell or any other changes, either. For power, the Cube is powered via a battery and is mounted using a pre-installed Command strip so that it can be moved around as needed without damaging whatever it is mounted to. The lack of a wired power source may sound inconvenient or perhaps just not very well thought out but the company actually says that power lasts for a year, so it isn’t likely to be a problem. Meanwhile, the device comes with free access to video storage, with the most recent seven days being stored. Night vision is included in the package and the camera shoots at 1080p or 720p resolutions, depending on your preferences. Meanwhile, it’s also billed as being weatherproof, so outdoor placement shouldn’t be an issue.

The SimplySmart Home Security System is also wireless and battery powered but includes a bit more than the Cube. The solution includes a wide-angle ceiling camera with a 155-degree field of view, two door or window sensors, and a 100dB siren. Like the Cube, it comes with a claim of one-year battery life, 1080P and 720P resolution, cloud storage, portability provided by its every component’s easy mounting, 2-way communications, and both voice and motion detection. Aside from motion activation, the system can also be set to simply monitor 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While the two systems may cost a bit more than some other security solutions, their number of features and ease of use are certainly going to make them worth looking into for anybody in need of a new home security platform.
