Signal booster manufacturer, SureCall, has unveiled its latest product at CES 2018, the FusionTrek signal booster for vehicles. The FusionTrek is a product that aims to reduce instances of spotty coverage by boosting both voice and data cellular signal. However, unlike other competing offerings, the manufacturer claims that its product is the first vehicle signal booster that does not require external antennas or cables. Instead, the FusionTrek includes a built-in antenna that receives cellular signals from outside the vehicle. Due to the lack of external components, this signal booster may appeal to consumers who want to balance the need for improved data and voice connectivity while also maintaining the design and aesthetic of their vehicles.
Despite the lack of an antenna outside the vehicle, the company claims that its signal booster can offer an increase of cellular signal strength by one or two bars. This should be sufficient for preventing dropped calls or slow data from occurring while traveling in remote locations. The signal booster supports a wide variety of cellular standards, including GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, HSPA+, EVDO, and LTE. The manufacturer claims that the FusionTrek is compatible with all major US carriers, and it can also run on the network operated by the regional carrier US Cellular. SureCall also incorporated a technology into the FusionTrek which prevents interference from occurring if the vehicle is close to a cell site.
The FusionTrek signal booster kit consists of the signal booster itself, a low-profile panel antenna, and the DC power adapter. The low-profile panel antenna is designed to deliver the cellular signal directly to the handset, and it also serves as a cradle for the smartphone. The signal booster, on the other hand, is placed at the rear part of the vehicle. The DC power adapter that powers the entire setup is connected to the panel antenna. Another cable connects the panel antenna and the signal booster, and it serves to deliver power to the booster. The manufacturer insists that it only takes minutes to install the signal booster. The FusionTrek will be available on Amazon as well as other retailers in mid-March, and it will have a price tag of $199.
