Xiaomi is launching a refreshed variant of the Mi Notebook Air 13.3 introduced in mid-2017, featuring an eight-generation Coffee Lake processors from Intel instead of Kaby Lake offerings, with the product lineup being similar to the Mi Notebook Pro released last September. The refresh also appears to have introduced an upgraded cooling system and comes in a new gray color option called Deep Sea Gray, though its other specifications remain unchanged from the previous model, much like its overall exterior design.
Like before, the refreshed Xiaomi Mi Notebook 13.3 can be acquired with either an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor, both of which are now part of the Coffee Lake generation. Specifically, Xiaomi offers the Intel Core i5-8520 quad-core CPU with eight threads, 6MB cache, and an operating frequency of 3.4GHz, or an Intel Core i7-8550U featuring four cores, eight threads, 8MB level 3 cache, and a maximum clock speed of 4.0GHz. Despite the fact that Intel’s latest Coffee Lake processors have been launched after the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities were first uncovered, these new offerings are affected by them just like the previous processors. Moving on to graphics, the integrated GPU is unchanged so the notebook features the same 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150 chipset as last year’s model, as well as 8GB of DDR4 RAM operating at a maximum frequency of 2,400MHz. The 13.3-inch display has an FHD resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels, can deliver 300 nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 800:1, and is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.
Other details worth mentioning include a 1MP camera with 720p video calling capabilities, Realtek’s ALC255 sound card paired with an AKG dual-speaker system featuring Dolby Audio, and a 40W battery with fast charging support. In terms of ports, the notebook offers a USB Type-C and USB 3.0 connectors, a full-sized HDMI port, and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, the package weighs only 1.3kg and runs Windows 10 Home Edition out of the box. As far as pricing goes, the refreshed Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3 is now available for the starting price of 5,399 yuan or the rough equivalent of $843 in China and should soon be picked up by GearBest.
