ZUK is essentially Lenovo’s subsidiary which did not release a smartphone for quite some now, and ZUK’s CEO, Chang Cheng, has just released a new image on its official Weibo (Chinese social network). If you take a look at the provided image above, you will be able to see an upcoming Lenovo-branded smartphone, which we do not know anything about at this point, save for the details that have been shared on this image, read on.
As you can see, this phone will be made out of metal and glass, while its back side will be curved. ZUK did not exactly release a smartphone for quite some time now, and even some rumors surfaced last year stating that the company may shut down entirely. Back in July last year, ZUK actually teased the arrival of the ZUK Z3, so the phone that Mr. Cheng teased is probably the ZUK Z3, a direct successor to the ZUK Z2 which arrived back in May 2016. Now, the company’s ‘ZUK Z’ lineup of devices always aims to give consumers high-end specs at affordable price tags, at least that was the case thus far, so chances are that the ZUK Z3 will also ship with high-end specs, at least to a certain degree. The ZUK Z2 Pro shipped out with the Snapdragon 821 back in mid-2016, so it is possible that the ZUK Z3 arrives with either the Snapdragon 835 or Snapdragon 845 SoC, while the device will include 4GB or 6GB of RAM, though do keep in mind we’re only guessing at this point, as the company’s CEO did not leave any hints regarding the phone’s spec sheet.
The phone that Mr. Cheng teased comes with Lenovo’s branding, does that mean that the ZUK Z3 may arrive carrying a different name, will it be called the Lenovo ZUK Z3 maybe? There are so many questions that need to be answered, and we’ll have to wait until the company actually releases the device, as it’s possible quite a few things changed since ZUK released its last smartphone back in 2016, so everything is possible at this point. We still do not know when will the teased smartphone arrive, but chances are we’ll see it out in the market in a couple of months.
