The 5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership (5G-PPP) and 5G Infrastructure Association (5G-IA) are set to provide public presentations on two days of MWC 2018, according to a press release from the organizations. For those who may not be aware, the 5G-PPP is a self-described “joint initiative” between the European Commission and the European information and communications technologies industry. 5G-IA, on the other hand, is a part of that partnership – representing the private or industry side of the group. Presentations will start, beginning at around 11:00 am and concluding at around 1:45 pm local time, on the first day. That will include 5 speakers from various internal 5G-PPP members.
With regard to specific topics to be covered and the speakers, the results of 5G-PPP Projects Phase 1, which were recently published in the European 5G Annual Journal 2017 will be a big part of the event. Topics will range from that to providing a new Pan-European 5G Trials Roadmap, key architecture recommendations, and a new White Paper centered around deployment of 5G vehicle to everything (V2X) technologies. As part of that, demonstrations from 5GCAR will start off each presentation, followed later by videos from 5G-MoNArch and 5G-XHaul – with presentations from the latter two running from around 11:30 am to 12:30 pm local time. The full presentation will run, as mentioned above, until approximately 1:45 pm. For those attending the Barcelona event, this first set of presentations will be taking place in Hall 7, at Stand 7K17, at a joint 5G-IA and 5G-PPP booth.
The second presentation will take place on the final day of the MWC event – March 1 – in Auditorium 4 of Hall 4, starting at 11:30 am local time. The final event will feature 5G-IA Secretary General Jean-Pierre Bienaimé, with discussion centering around an overview of current 5G-PPP Projects and how they are expected to affect 5G and IoT applications. Last but not least, WINGS ICT Solutions representatives Panagiotis Demestichas and Dr. Evangelos Kosmatos will provide an unspecified demonstration from the 5G-PPP ONE5G project. Both days since appear to be inclusive of members from across the broader industries involved in 5G and IoT technologies. Since the group also seems to have a tendency to place focus on the bleeding edge of those tech innovations, there could be some fairly exciting revelations associated with the presentations.
