In case you’re wondering what smartphones is Samsung planning to release in 2018, well, the XDA Developers website has just shared some info regarding that. The source actually pulled some device references from Galaxy Note 8’s Android 8.0 Oreo framework, it seems. Some of those code-names are almost impossible to decipher, as it is still not known what devices they’re referencing, but some of them are rather obvious, read on.
You will find a full list of code-names down below, and we’ll talk about some of them here, those that have been deciphered by the source. The first mention belongs to ‘astarqlte’, which is almost certainly the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S9 Active. The Galaxy S9 is, based on a report which surfaced last year, code-named ‘star’, the ‘q’ in its code-name represents ‘Qualcomm (Snapdragon)’, while the ‘a’ suggests it will belong to the ‘Active’ lineup of phones. The ‘c10lte’ and ‘c10plte’ code-names obviously suggest that the Galaxy C10 and C10 Plus are on the way as well, while the ‘crown’ code-name probably references the Galaxy Note 9, as that phone is, allegedly, code-named ‘crown’ internally. The ‘gta2xl’, ‘gtesy18lte’ and ‘gts4lite’ code-names are probably referencing the company’s upcoming tablets, the Galaxy A 10.1 (2018), Galaxy Tab E (2018) and Galaxy Tab S4, respectively, and that is based on the code-names for their predecessors, mostly.
The Galaxy J2 (2018) and Galaxy J3 Neo are also referenced here, via ‘j2y18lte’ and ‘j3neolte’ code-names, and the same can be said for the Galaxy J4, Galaxy J6, and Galaxy J8 as ‘j4lte’, ‘j6lte’ and ‘j8lte’ have been mentioned on the list. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are also mentioned here, as the ‘star’ and ‘star2’ code-names popped up. As already mentioned, the Galaxy S9 is, allegedly, called ‘star’ within the company, so these code-names make sense. There are a number of other devices referenced in Samsung’s framework, though the source is still unsure which gadgets do they represent, but you can check out the list down below in order to check out the full list, as there are quite a few devices included on it. It seems like Samsung is planning to announce quite a few devices in 2018, as expected, similar to last year, at least if this list is to be believed.
