Amazfit Bip Smartwatch Announced With 45-Day Battery Life

Since the debut of its first fitness tracker a year and a half ago, Amazfit has released a number of different full-fledged smartwatches, and today announces the global availability of its first square smartwatch. The Amazfit Bip, as it’s known as, certainly bears a marked resemblance to the Apple Watch in style, but it isn’t a direct clone by any means. Aside from being Amazfit’s fourth smartwatch, and their first square model, the Amazfit Bip certainly differentiates itself from the pack by one major feature: over one month of battery life. Yes, Amazfit actually measures the Bip’s battery life in days, not hours, and cites up to 45 days on a single charge.

This isn’t just a regular hybrid watch that also happens to track steps, it’s one that features a full color, always-on 1.28-inch touchscreen with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 protection. In addition to this, Amazfit has somehow packed in GPS + GLONASS for route tracking, an optical heart rate sensor, and 3-axis accelerometers for activity, sports and sleep tracking as well. A compass and barometer work to measure direction and elevation changes, and an IP68 rating means it can be fully submerged in water for up to half an hour without risking damage. Despite having such impressive battery life claims, it only packs a 190mAh battery inside and weighs a pretty unbelievable 31 grams (1.1oz) in total.

Amazfit outfits the Bip with a 20mm standard watch band, meaning you can change out the bands for whatever you might like best, keeping it sporty for activities, or dressing it up a bit for going out. The Mi Fit app powers the stat collection side of the wearable, and pairs with the watch’s ability to customize the watch face, set daily activity goals and monitor historical data, including sleep data. Amazfit is selling the Onyx Black color as of today on Amazfit.com for $99. Three other color options are available for pre-order, including Cinnabar Red, Kokoda Green and White Cloud. These three colors are expected to ship by March 30th, 2018, so it’s a bit of a wait if you don’t want to grab the Onyx Black color. Mi Fit works on both Android and iOS, which means the Amazfit Bip will work with your phone of choice, no matter the major OS.
