BlackBerry Motion is now expanding its reach to cover 28 European countries in total, with TCL also making its first-party Motion accessories available in the same markets. The BlackBerry Mobile EU store already has the handset listed with a price tag of €469, which translates to around $585 based on the current exchange rates. BlackBerry Motion accessories include a hard shell case, tempered glass screen protector, and a privacy-oriented flip case that cost €34.99, €9.99, and €49.99 respectively.
Coming to the spec sheet, the Motion shares a lot in common with the BlackBerry KEYone, sans the physical keyboard. The phone sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel with an FHD resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels covered with unspecified scratch-resistant glass. The BlackBerry Motion is IP67-certified, thus boasting resistance to both dust particles and water, while it also has a 4,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It comes powered by the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset with the Adreno 506 GPU and features 4GB of RAM. The internal storage of the phone comes in at 32GB which is expandable by up to 256GB via a microSD card. The handset comes preloaded with Android 7.1 (Nougat) with BlackBerry’s propriety software designed to enhance the overall security of its mobile offering. Its fingerprint scanner is placed on the front, underneath the BlackBerry logo on the bottom bezel, and the handset has a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. There is a single 12-megapixel camera sensor on the back that’s installed behind a lens with an f/2.0 aperture and features phase detection autofocus, HDR support, 4K 60fps video recording, and a dual-LED flash unit. There is also an 8-megapixel f/2.2 camera on the front of the device that boasts FHD video recording capabilities.
TCL first announced the BlackBerry Motion last October when it was made available in some Middle Eastern and European markets, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. The handset has since been made available in the United States last month where it was priced at $449.99. BlackBerry previously vowed to release Android 8.0 (Oreo) update for the phone at some point this year but the company has yet to attach a more specific timeframe to that promise.
