An Exynos-powered variant of the Samsung Galaxy S9 has just surfaced on Geekbench. This handset got listed under its ‘SM-G960F’ model number, and it managed to outscore the Snapdragon 845-powered Galaxy S9 Plus which appeared on Geekbench back in December, by quite a margin. Do keep in mind that the variant of the Galaxy S9 Plus which surfaced in December was probably just a pre-production model, so those results are not expected to be extremely high, and even though the newly-surfaced unit is miles better in terms of benchmarks performance, it’s possible that this is not the final unit either.
The Exynos 9810-powered Galaxy S9 which just surfaced managed to hit 3,648 points in the single-core, and 8,894 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. Now, for comparison’s sake, the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895-powered Galaxy Note 8 units managed to score 6,590 and 6,785 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench, respectively. This is based on tests from September last year, so this Exynos 9810-powered Galaxy S9 unit that popped up on Geekbench is definitely ahead of the Galaxy Note 8, quite a bit. Now, in addition to benchmark scores, Geekbench also shared some spec info with the public, as the listing mentions that this variant of the device comes with 4GB of RAM, and that it is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. It is still unknown whether the 6GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S9 will become a reality or not, but it seems like the Galaxy S9 Plus will definitely ship with 6GB of RAM, and its 4GB RAM variant may not even be available.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 will be announced on February 25 in Barcelona, as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Samsung had scheduled that event a while back, and the company had already released several teasers for the arrival of the Galaxy S9. Along with the Galaxy S9, you can expect its sibling, the Galaxy S9 Plus to become official as well. The Galaxy S9 will be smaller than its sibling, as it will ship with a smaller display, and it’s also expected to sport a single camera on the back, compared to a dual camera setup on the back of the Galaxy S9 Plus. The Galaxy S9 will include a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and on top of Android 8.0 Oreo, you’ll get the Samsung Experience UI 9.0.
