Google Assistant can now set a wake up alarm for you. Whether you use Google Assistant on a Google Home speaker or you use it from your phone most often, you can now easily set alarms to wake up without having to touch the display on your mobile device. This is a huge feature inclusion for anyone who has had access to Google Assistant since the beginning and especially for those who have Google’s smart speakers. More specifically, you can set alarms through Google Assistant that play music, which seems to be the specialty of this new function. This also works with locally stored music and radio stations, and you can mention artists or specific songs or playlists.
In addition to now setting alarms to help you wake up Google Assistant can also now help you more easily find TV shows to watch. In regards to shows, you can ask Google what channel or network certain shows play on or when the next time is that the show will come on. This way if you hear about a new show you think you may like, you can find out what channel airs it and when it will come on so you don’t miss it. Then you can ask Google to play your show when the time comes for it to air.
These are the only two new features that Google has added to its assistant as part of this new update but they are likely to be very useful to some. Setting wake up alarms is a feature that some users have no doubt been waiting for, and the fact that you can set the alarm to wake you to music should make things a little more soothing than some random alarm tone. If you’re a TV buff, then Google Assistant will now be able to help ensure you never miss another episode of your favorite shows should you find it hard to remember when they come on, and all of this is now possible without having to lay a finger on your device. This is also in addition to the large list of capabilities that the assistant has had for months. If you don’t already have a Google Home speaker now might be a good time to check one out.
