HTC U11 Plus Android Flagship Available In India For $887

The HTC U11 Plus Android flagship is now available for purchase in India, priced at Rs. 56,990, or approximately $887 by today’s currency exchange rate. The smartphone is presently only offered by Flipkart, though it remains to be seen whether it will eventually find its way to other (online) retailers. Likewise, only the Amazing Silver variant of the handset with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal flash memory is available for purchase. A number of other markets have previously received the more affordable version of the HTC U11 Plus with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space which started at approximately $700.

Other features of the device remain unchanged, with the model being sold in India still boasting a 6.0-inch display panel with a QHD+ resolution of 2,880 by 1,440 pixels amounting to an elongated aspect ratio of 18:9, i.e. 2:1. Coupled with minimal bezels, the HTC U11 Plus is able to compete in the phablet category while still having a relatively compact physical footprint and being usable in a single hand. The flagship’s overall dimensions amount to 158.5 x 74.9 x 8.5mm, with the package weighing 188g. Beneath its Super LCD6 screen is the Snapdragon 835, Qualcomm’s system-on-chip that powered the vast majority of ultra-premium Android devices released in 2017. The HTC U11 Plus boasts dual-SIM capabilities thanks to its Hybrid SIM setup which can also accept a microSD card with a capacity of up to 256GB. The rear plate of the device accommodates a 12-megapixel camera mounted behind an f/1.7 lens and coming with support for optical image stabilization and phase detection autofocus. The slim top bezel sports an 8-megapixel sensor and a lens with an aperture of f/2.0.

The HTC U11 Plus runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, hence featuring support for Google’s Project Treble that may allow it to receive minor software upgrades like security patches in a more timely manner. A 3,930mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support is also part of the package, as is a USB Type-C 3.1 port, though the device lacks a headphone jack. HTC is expected to announce the U12 in mid-2018, with industry sources recently suggesting the phone maker isn’t planning any flagship announcements at MWC 2018 set to start in late February.
