Huawei P20 Press Invite Hints At Triple Camera Setup

A Huawei press invite appears to confirm a triple-camera setup on the company’s upcoming flagship line. Rumors surrounding Huawei’s upcoming P20 flagship lineup have been floating around for some time now, with much of the focus being put on the smartphone lineup’s photographic capabilities. Now, in a press invite sent out by the company, it appears Huawei is confirming previous rumors which stated its devices would feature three rear cameras.

Looking at the press invite, March 27 is once again confirmed as the unveiling date, with the press event taking place in Paris, France. As for the camera setup hints, the first is included in the background, which shows off an image of Eiffel Tower with three large circles overlapping the shot, pointing towards the rumored triple-camera setup. Not only this, but Huawei has also chosen to include “See mooore with AI” at the bottom of the invite, with the three triple “o” letters providing yet another hint of the setup, while the mention of AI once again confirms the upcoming device’s focus on artificial intelligence with their dedicated neural processing unit, just like Huawei’s Mate 10 line. In terms of the usefulness of the new camera setup, the first two sensors are expected to consist of one main imagery sensor alongside a monochrome sensor designed to improve detailing, while the new third sensor will reportedly bring support for a 5x hybrid zoom, which should allow the device to better compete with Apple and Samsung’s device offerings. Together, the three will allegedly be capable of producing 40-megapixel images. Aside from the improved camera setup, Huawei’s P20 line is also expected to introduce a new design inspired by Apple’s iPhone X, with a small notch towards the top of the display, while the other areas will remain largely bezel-less.

Just like previous flagship lines, Huawei is said to be launching a Plus model alongside the regular P20, with the principal difference being the display size. Furthermore, a third device dubbed the P20 Lite is also expected to make an appearance at the event, albeit with a more mid-range spec sheet and a dual-camera setup on the rear. Nonetheless, Huawei is rumored to be retaining the top-notch design which could prove popular with consumers looking for a premium design on a budget. Huawei is yet to confirm any official details surrounding its upcoming devices, but with the event under two months away, it shouldn’t be too long before further details leak out.
