LG will unveil the K8 and K10 2018 models at Mobile World Congress, boasting that this year’s version of the two phones will “close the gap” between its high-end flagship smartphone lines such as the G series and the V series, and its more budget-friendly, accessible mass-tier devices. While staying true to the nature of what the K series phones already offer, the LG K8 2018 and LG K10 2018 will come with notable improvements to help them stand out from the other devices that sit squarely in the same category, not the least of which will be updated specs and some newer software, but also what looks like some decent improvements to the camera both on the hardware front and within the feature set.
For example, the new K10 will come with the same 13-megapixel rear-facing camera that was used in the G6, and feature things like phase detection auto focus, while the 8-megapixel front-facing camera will come with features like bokeh effects for your selfies, if that’s something you feel like they’ve been missing. Worth noting is that the 2018 model of the K10 comes in three different variations which includes the K10 Alpha, the K10, and the K10 Plus, all which have mostly the same specs but with some modifications, such as the K10 Alpha’s rear and front cameras which have been bumped down to 8-megapixels and 5-megapixels respectively. This is compared to the 8-megapixel front sensor on both the K10 and K10 Plus, though both phones will also give the option of downscaling to the 5-megapixel resolution in a wide-angle format if users want the wide-angle shot.
Other specs include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage on the K10 Plus, while the K10 and K10 Alpha will offer 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. All three versions will come with the same 5.3-inch HD display, fingerprint sensor, 3,000mAh battery, and come powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core CPU. As for colors, the K10 will come in all three available colors which are Terra Gold, Aurora Black, and Moroccan Blue, while the K10 Plus only comes in the gold and blue option, and the K10 Alpha comes in only the black and gold option.
When it comes to the K8 2018, there will only be one variation and it will come with some slightly lower-powered specs compared to the K10 models. It comes with a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU instead of an octa-core CPU, with a smaller screen size of 5-inches though it is still HD, and it comes with a smaller battery capacity of 2,500mAh. The nice thing for users about the battery on this device is that it’s removable whereas the batteries are non-removable in the K10. For memory the K8 2018 will feature 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage so it will match the K10 Alpha and K10, and it will come in all three of the same colors as the K10 as well. Both the K8 and K10 will come with Android 7.1.2 Nougat software and are expected to launch in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America, but LG has yet to mention a release date or pricing.
