Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) has just shared more info regarding one of HTC’s upcoming smartphone, and the device in question carries the codename ‘Breeze’. According to the tipster, the HTC Breeze will sport a 5.5-inch display, which will not have much bezel around it, and we’re looking at an 18:9 display aspect ratio here. This will be an entry-level handset, and it will be fueled by one of MediaTek’s processors, though the source did not mention what SoC are we looking at here exactly.
Now, in addition to that, the HTC Breeze will also pack in 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage, and that storage will hopefully be expandable, even though Mr. Blass did not confirm that just yet. A 13-megapixel snapper will be placed on the back side of the device, while you will be able to find a 5-megapixel camera on the phone’s front side. A 2,730mAh non-removable battery will also be included in this package, and the device will, allegedly, be quite affordable. We’re still not sure what will this handset be called, but chances are that HTC is aiming to release it in developing markets, not only do its specs indicate that in general, but its entry-level MediaTek SoC does as well. Mr. Blass did not mention when will this smartphone arrive to the market, but chances are we’ll hear more about it soon, who knows, maybe HTC opts to announce it during this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona later this month.
Speaking of HTC, we have exclusively confirmed, at the end of last month, that the company has no plans of announcing its new flagship in Barcelona. HTC has opted to host a separate event for the announcement of its new flagship, which will, presumably, be named the HTC U12, and that even will probably take place in either March or April. HTC is not the only company who have opted to host a separate event instead of announcing its flagship at MWC; it seems like LG, Xiaomi and Huawei will do the same, all in the first half of this year, so we’re looking at a rather busy period after the Mobile World Congress ends. Sony, on the other hand, will announce its offerings at the Mobile World Congress, along with Samsung. We’re not exactly expecting HTC to go overboard with entry-level smartphones this year, so the HTC Breeze may be one of the very few such phones to reach the market.
