Samsung is currently offering a pair of the Gear IconX earbuds for free to customers who buy the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus, Galaxy S8 Active, or the Galaxy Note 8. Interested consumers may purchase either the unlocked version or the carrier variants of the four smartphones from the South Korean smartphone manufacturer’s website or the Shop Samsung Android app. On its website, the tech giant states that the promotion is only valid for customers who are currently residing in the United States until March 1.
The Gear IconX was unveiled last August and it originally had a price tag of $199.99. The device can connect to smartphones using Bluetooth and contains a 5.8pi Dynamic Driver and 4GB of internal flash storage, which allows it to store around 1,000 songs locally. Each of the two earbuds contains an 82mAh battery, which the manufacturer claims can provide up to six hours of battery life while playing music offline and up to five hours of Bluetooth-enabled operation. The device maker further claims that its earbuds can also offer an hour of battery life after charging for just ten minutes. The Gear IconX comes with a carrying case that charges the device with its built-in 340mAh battery. It is important to note that aside from Samsung devices, the Gear IconX can also be used with other handsets that run either Android or iOS.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus were launched back in March, while both the Galaxy S8 Active and the Galaxy Note 8 were announced last August. All four devices are powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset in the United States, although the devices differ in terms of display size and their RAM and storage configurations. The Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Active, and the Galaxy S8 Plus all contain 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage. The Galaxy Note 8 ships with 6GB of RAM and is available in variants that contain 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of internal flash storage.
