The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will cost £999 ($1,395) in the United Kingdom, according to a new product listing launched by British consumer electronics retailer Clove Technology. The smaller Galaxy S9 will supposedly start at £799 ($1,115), with that price being in line with the Norwegian pricing details of the handset that leaked online earlier today. Likewise, the information mostly corresponds to an older report from early February which claimed the base variant of the Galaxy S9 will be offered for £789 ($1,100) in the country. The retailer’s listings are technically just estimates and clearly state all cited figures are yet to be confirmed but have emerged following a series of reports that Samsung is once again planning to increase the prices of the new additions to its Android flagship series. Wireless carriers and Samsung itself might offer the two phablets at somewhat more affordable prices than the newly reported ones cited by the reseller.
Compared to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, the upcoming devices may be up to $150 more expensive in certain European markets, with both of Clove’s price tags including value-added tax in the UK. Prices of the vast majority of consumer electronics traditionally vary on the Old Continent depending on the VAT rates of individual countries, so the Galaxy S9 lineup may be even more expensive in places like Denmark, Hungary, Sweden, and Croatia which impose a higher VAT rate on consumer goods and services than the British government does. Clove expects to receive the first Galaxy S9 stock on March 16, according to the newly launched listings, with that date being in line with previous reports about the commercial availability of Samsung’s 2018 Android flagships.
The same source also added more credibility to recent rumors about the official colors of the Galaxy S9 series, having listed four of them in total: Midnight Black, Lilac Purple, Titanium Grey, and Coral Blue. The accuracy of the listings remains somewhat dubious as the page describing the Galaxy S9 Plus claims it will be equipped with 4GB of RAM, whereas nearly every credible leak, rumor, and report that emerged online in previous weeks states the 6.2-inch phablet will have 6GB of RAM and only its smaller counterpart is expected to retain the memory configuration of the Galaxy S8 lineup. Samsung’s Android 8.0 Oreo-powered flagships are set to be officially announced this Sunday in Barcelona, a day before MWC 2018 officially opens its doors to the public.
