Samsung Galaxy S9, S9 Plus Will Launch In India On March 6

Pre-bookings for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus have been opened since the two phones launched two days ago, and now it has been confirmed that both of them will be announced in India on March 6. Samsung India has started sending out invites to media outlets in India, which is how this date got confirmed. Pre-bookings for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are available through the Samsung Online Shop sites, Samsung’s official website, that is.

Once they arrive to the country, these two devices will also be available via Flipkart, as both phones are already listed on Flipkart’s website, though release dates or pricing have not been mentioned in that listing. Samsung had introduced the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus as its new flagship smartphones during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona, and the two phones are actually quite similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus as far as the design is concerned. A fingerprint scanner is placed in a much more convenient spot now, and there are a number of improvements under the hood, but the design is quite similar. Both devices are made out of metal and glass, and they both sport Samsung’s Infinity Super AMOLED panels, which sports curved sides. The Galaxy S9 comes with a 5.8-inch QHD+ panel, while the Galaxy S9 Plus features a 6.2-inch QHD+ display.

Samsung introduced two SoC variants of each phone, but both devices will be fueled by the Exynos 9810 64-bit octa-core SoC in India, Samsung’s very own flagship SoC. The Galaxy S9 features 4GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S9 Plus comes with 6GB of RAM on the inside. In addition to a fingerprint scanner, both devices come with an Iris scanner, and a facial recognition as well. Android 8.0 Oreo comes out of the box on both devices, along with Samsung’s Experience 9.0 UI. Now, we still don’t have official price points for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus in India, but if leaked info is to be believed, the Galaxy S9 will come in 64GB and 256GB storage models, which will cost Rs. 62,500 ($958) and Rs. 71,000 ($1,088). The Galaxy S9 Plus, on the other hand, will be available in those very same storage options, and will be priced at Rs. 70,000 ($1,073) and Rs. 79,000 ($1,211).
