Urban Armor Gear on Monday announced four new rugged case series meant to protect the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, having unveiled them shortly after Samsung officially debuted its latest Android flagships. UAG is now retailing the Monarch, Plyo, Plasma, and Pathfinder-series accessories for both devices, with their prices ranging from $34.95 to $59.95.
Available in Black and Crimson, the Monarch lineup is UAG’s most premium product family designed for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. With five handcrafted protective layers and a build that’s a combination of metal alloys and leather, the case exceeds the standards of the MIL-STD 810G 516.6 military durability rating by a factor of two. It costs nearly $60 and is hence in line with Samsung’s most high-end official cases for the newly announced devices, though the level of protection it offers is unlikely to be surpassed by any other accessory that doesn’t block NFC connectivity and hence allows unobstructed Samsung Pay usage. The Plyo lineup is available in Crimson, Glacier, Ash, and Ice color options, priced at $39.95. The lineup is made in accordance with the aforementioned durability specification, features corners meant to soften impacts, and is advertised as the ultimate combination of security and portability.
The Plasma series carries the same price tag, being offered in Citron, Cobalt, Ash, and Ice variants, all of which essentially serve as aggressively designed counterparts to the more conventional and smoother-looking Plyo family. UAG’s Pathfinder cases are the most affordable accessories the company is selling for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, priced at under $35. Both cases are only available in black but feature the same military-grade durability and impact-resistant corners while still being designed not to get in the way of Samsung Pay or wireless charging, much like the other new products. While the Monarch series comes with a ten-year warranty, the rest of the offerings ship with a one-year assurance of quality. Samsung‘s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will officially become available for pre-orders this Friday and release globally on March 16.
