The 2018 Winter Olympics is kicking off on February 9th (with coverage starting in the US on February 8th), from PyeongChang, South Korea. This is going to kick off roughly two weeks of non-stop action. The Olympics are being streamed on NBC’s channels and properties from February 8th through the closing ceremonies on February 25th. However, those that are cord cutters, won’t be able to just turn on their TV and watch the Olympics. So here’s how you can watch the 2018 Winter Olympics on Android as well as on your TV as a cord cutter.

NBC Sports App

You can watch and keep up with all of the events at the Winter Olympics using the NBC Sports app. This app is available on virtually every platform. Including Android, iOS, Fire TV, Roku, Samsung and even Xbox, to name a few. So chances are, it’s available on your platform of choice. This is the best way to watch the Winter Olympics, as NBC does have exclusive rights to streaming the Olympics. The app also allows you to see the live streaming schedule, so if you’re interested in a particular sport, you can see when it is going to be streaming.

PyeongChang 2018 Official App

This app is more for those that are going to be in PyeongChang for the Olympics this month. But it’s a good app to checkout for a few other features like the “events” section. This section will provide information on these events, so if it’s a newer event that you are unfamiliar with, you can quickly find out what it is. Otherwise, it does provide news from the games, as well as giving you directions to the different venues and such. So if you’re heading to PyeongChang, then this is the app to pick up.

DIRECTV NOW

DIRECTV NOW is a great platform to watch the Winter Olympics from PyeongChang this month. DIRECTV NOW does have all of NBC’s channels available in its cheapest package which is $35. NBC is available in most markets, though you will need to check your ZIP code to see. Now, DIRECTV NOW does offer up a free 7-day trail. Obviously that won’t get you through the entire Olympics, but it is offering another pretty good promo. If you pre-pay for two months of DIRECTV NOW, you will get an Amazon Fire TV on them. Definitely a good way to get a Fire TV.

Sling TV

Much like DIRECTV NOW, Sling TV also carries all of NBC’s channels and actually starts a bit cheaper at $20. Sling TV does also offer up a free 7-day trial, but if you sign up and pay for two months of Sling TV, you can get a free Roku Express. It’s a good option if you’re looking to watch the Winter Olympics on Android TV, seeing as DIRECTV NOW does not support Android TV yet. Neither of which allow for DVR recording yet though, which would come in very handy with the Winter Olympics being played on the other side of the world.

YouTube TV

Google has its own streaming TV service, YouTube TV. It starts at $35/month, with a 7-day trial available as well. YouTube TV does include all of NBC’s channels, but it is not available everywhere in the US. So you’ll want to check out YouTube TV’s website to find out if it’s available in your area.
