A rather sketchy image surfaced earlier today, claiming to be the Xiaomi Mi 7, and now the phone’s specifications leaked as well. This leak comes from China, and it reveals some specs of the upcoming handsets. Now, if the provided image is to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core processor, Qualcomm’s newest flagship SoC, while the device will sport a 5.6-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display.
The leaked image also reveals that the Mi 7 will include 8GB of RAM, well, at least one of its variants will, and on the back of the phone, you will be able to find two 16-megapixel snappers, though no additional camera-related info has been revealed. The device will ship with 128GB of storage, at least the 8GB RAM variant will, while a 4,480mAh battery will be included in this package as well, and chances are it will be non-removable The test unit of the Mi 7 that surfaced runs MIUI 8.1.3.0, though once it becomes official, the Mi 7 will ship with MIUI 9, almost certainly. That being said, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will not be announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, as our source in the company confirmed recently. Xiaomi is planning to launch this smartphone at a separate, post-MWC event, though the company still did not reveal when will that happen exactly. It is quite likely, however, that the Mi 7 will arrive in either March or April, and it will be interesting to see if the company will introduce it in China, or will Xiaomi host a global event first.
Now, based on the leaked specs, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be a compact smartphone, despite the fact it sports a 5.6-inch display. The Mi 7 will, unlike the Mi 6, sport an 18:9 display ratio, which means it will narrower and taller than a phone with a regular 5.6-inch display. It is also safe to assume that the phone will ship with thinner specs than the Mi 6, so it will probably ship with a similar footprint as the Mi 6, it may be slightly larger. It is also worth noting that the Mi 7 Plus had also leaked in the past, so it is possible that the company may introduce both the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus in the near future.
