The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the latest smartphone whose firmware files popped up online. After leaking the Xiaomi Mi 7 and Mi MIX 2S info based on leaked firmwares, XDA Developers website is back with some info regarding the Mi Max 3. The Mi Max 3’s firmware info was obtained by FunkyHuawei.club, same goes for the other two Xiaomi-branded smartphones that were mentioned.
Now, this is not the first time we’re hearing about the Xiaomi Mi Max 3, some rumors regarding the phone surfaced back in December, when a rumor reported that the device will sport a 7-inch 18:9 display, a 5,500mAh non-removable battery, and the Snapdragon 630 / 660 SoC. That being said, the leaked firmware does confirm that the Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel the Mi Max 3, though there may be a more affordable variant with the Snapdragon 630, but that variant’s firmware info did not surface, so the source is unable to confirm it. The device will, indeed, sport a 5,500mAh non-removable battery on the inside, while it will also sport an 18:9 display, as a previous rumor suggested, even though firmware files did not confirm the phone’s display size nor resolution. To make things interesting, firmware files do confirm that the Mi Max 3 will sport wireless charging. This may not be too much of a surprise, considering that Xiaomi did join the Wireless Power Consortium (WPS) last year, but pretty much everyone though that wireless charging is reserved for the company’s high-end devices, like the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 7 which will almost certainly ship with such a feature.
Now, the source also managed to get ahold of an image which shows a Xiaomi-branded phone, which looks like the Mi MIX 2, getting wirelessly charged. This is almost certainly not the Mi Max 3, though, so keep that in mind. Some camera info also surfaced, thanks to leaked firmware files. The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will sport either Sony’s IMX363 sensor on the back, or a combination of Samsung’s S5K217 and S5K5E8 sensors. Samsung’s S5K4H7 will be included on the phone’s front, and the same goes for an Iris scanner it seems. Firmware files also suggest that Android 8.1 Oreo will come pre-installed on the Mi Max 3, while the company’s MIUI skin will be placed on top of it. Two SIM card slots will be included on the phone, and you’ll also be able to expand its storage. An IR blaster is a part of the offering, and the same goes for an LED light notification, audio tuned by Dirac, and Qualcomm’s aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs.
