Xiaomi had introduced the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro handsets earlier this month in India, and the company’s Marketing Director has just confirmed that the Redmi Note 5 will be making its way to China soon. Zang Zhiyuan, the company’s Marketing Director, did mention the ‘Redmi Note 5’, and then included the Redmi Note 5 Pro camera post by Manu Kumar Jain. Chances are that both smartphones will be announced in China, but it seems like one of the two, or both of them, will sport a different camera setup. In his Weibo post, Mr. Zhiyuan teased a ‘camera surprise’, which suggests that we’re in for something new.
The source did not reveal what differences await us, but chances are that we’ll see something different when it comes to the camera setup on one of the two phones, or both of them, while the rest of the specs will remain intact. The Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro sport a similar design, but the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a dual camera setup on the back, while the Redmi Note 5 sports only one camera on its back. That being said, the design of these two phones will probably remain unchanged once they arrive in China, which means that they will be made out of metal, sport rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The two phones sport considerably thinner bezels than their predecessor, the Redmi Note 4, while both devices utilize on-screen buttons instead of capacitive ones. Xiaomi’s logo is applied to the back of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, while main cameras on both devices protrude a bit.
Both the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro ship with a 5.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, while both devices come with Android 7.1.2 Nougat and Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 skin on top of it. The Redmi Note 5 includes 3GB or 4GB of RAM on the inside, while the ‘Pro’ model comes with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on which variant you opt to purchase. A 12-megapixel snapper is included on the back of the Redmi Note 5, while the device comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Redmi Note 5 Pro, on the other hand, sports 12 and 5-megapixel shooters on the back, and a 20-megapixel camera on its front side.
