Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Dual Camera Pops Up In A Live Photo

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has seemingly been captured on camera in a comparison photo with the iPhone X, showing the design similarities between the two devices. Specifically, the photo showcases a portion of the back panel with the main focus being the camera assembly, which is comprised of a vertically aligned dual camera module containing an LED flash in the middle. Needless to say, the protruding camera looks very much like the one employed by the iPhone X and features a similar chrome ring surrounding it. However, unlike Apple’s flagship which has a glass back panel, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro appears to be entirely wrapped in metal, and so the similarities end with the camera module itself.

According to recent leaks and rumors, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will feature a 12-megapixel main camera with an f/2.2 aperture and 1.25um pixels, coupled with a secondary 5-megapixel sensor with 1.12um pixels and an f.2.0 aperture. Although the front panel hasn’t been captured on camera, it’s worth noting that the device is expected to employ a Sony IMX376 sensor for selfie enthusiasts, boasting a resolution of 20-megapixels. The Chinese OEM appears to have great faith in this device’s camera capabilities, as according to recently-leaked promotional material Xiaomi is referring to the smartphone as “India’s camera beast.” And according to a recent rumor, the smartphone could launch in India as early as February 14, where it might be available for purchase exclusively through online retailer Flipkart.

Although this detail hasn’t been captured in the recent photo, it’s also worth noting that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro should carry a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, so despite the design similarities with the iPhone X, Xiaomi’s handset won’t ditch fingerprint scanning technology in favor of face recognition. Other hardware details pertaining to the device include a Snapdragon 636 64-bit octa-core chipset from Qualcomm, coupled with 3GB, 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The on-board storage configuration also appears to change depending on the amount of RAM, so the model with 3GB of RAM should carry 32GB of storage, while the other two variants should feature 64GB of on-board memory. Finally, all the components are said to rely on a 4,000mAh battery and the device is expected to run the proprietary MIUI 9 skin based on Android Nougat.
