Chinese online retailer Oppomart is already selling cases for the Xiaomi Mi 6X which is yet to officially debut on the market. While cases and covers for the device have leaked a number of times, the newly uncovered ones can be purchased right away from the said store. These cases come from Mofi and are listed in two material options – clear soft TPU and matte hard plastic – priced at $5.99 and $6.99, respectively. The latter option is available in a handful of colors including black, blue, red, gold, and rose gold.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X has been on a leak spree since a couple of months ago, with the device being spotted in several real-life images, while its cases have also leaked in the past. These new cases reiterate what previous leaks have already suggested, which includes repositioned rear cameras and a taller display. Going by these cases and earlier leaks, the alleged Mi 6X will have a design reminiscent of the recently announced Redmi Note 5 Pro, which also has a similar camera placement. In addition to this, the cases also suggest the presence of a bottom-firing speaker, a headphone jack, and an IR blaster. The placeholder device image inside one of the cases shows thinner top and bottom bezels flanking an 18:9 display.
With its launch, the Xiaomi Mi 6X is expected to succeed the Mi 5X from last year, alternatively known as the Mi A1 in several markets where it was launched as part of the Android One program. Xiaomi may also introduce an Android One variant of the mid-range handset bearing the Mi A2 moniker to directly succeed the Mi A1. Previous reports have suggested the use of Xiaomi’s in-house Surge S2 processor in the device, doing away with Qualcomm’s offerings, paired with 4GB of RAM. The handset could feature a 5.7-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio with an FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Xiaomi had announced the Mi 5X last July and the Mi 6X should follow the same release timeline this year, with its launch being expected in mid-2018.
