BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe is finally set to release its new Tamagotchi title – My Tamagotchi Forever – for Android and iOS on March 15 and preregistrations are now open on the Google Play Store. For those who happen to be over the age of 20, Tamagotchi probably needs no introduction. However, for those who may not know, the word refers to digital non-human characters that require players to effectively take care of their every need. The craze surrounding the game started with miniature handheld electronics two decades ago and this new game builds on that unique history with a new experience for mobile devices almost everywhere.
Gameplay, as mentioned above, consists of caring for Tamagotchi in day-to-day life. That includes more menial tasks like keeping the critters fed, washed, and well-rested so that they stay healthy but it also includes playing minigames and exploring the village of Tamatown. In Tamatown, players an also meet up with friends to give their Tamagotchi a chance to interact with others and players can collect memories to share with others. Meanwhile, taking good care of Tamagotchi allows them to evolve in surprising ways based on how they are cared for. For more variety, in-game food, costumes, and more can be unlocked over time. Of course, players will also be able to speed up progress with real cash via in-app purchases and there’s a bit of competition since friends can share their progress with each other.
However, before anybody jumps over to the Play Store to sign up, they may want to consider doing so through the official site for the game first. That’s because the company is putting on a one-of-a-kind promotional drawing with this title. Specifically, those who sign up through the site can be entered to win a drawing to have a Tamagotchi modeled in their likeness included in the game. In either case, buttons leading to both are included below. Unfortunately, this release seems not to include users either China or Japan for some undisclosed reason. There’s also no word on if or when it might become available in those other areas but it won’t be available on March 15 with the wider rollout.
