Bigscreen is coming to the Samsung Gear VR and it’s already starting to Alpha Test the app. If you’re interested in being part of the Alpha Test Bigscreen has also set up a Google Form that can be filled out to gain access, though it is worth noting that signing up to be an Alpha tester does not necessarily guarantee that you will end up being invited to the test. That said, it is a guarantee that you won’t be invited to test out the app if you don’t sign up, so if this is something you like to check out, you can do so by hitting the button below which will take you to the form.
Bigscreen is an app which is already available on other VR platforms like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, and what it does is allow the user to access the features and content of their PC in a big screen virtual setting. What’s more is it’s the entire scope of the PC, meaning you can access the browser, your media player, a game, and really anything else, which is what could make this an exciting and compelling app to try out if you’re a Gear VR owner. Perhaps the better element to the app though is that it’s not just PC streaming, it’s also a shared-room experience, meaning users will be able to play games together and do things like watch the same video on YouTube in a virtual space.
Since this is just going into a testing phase and at the moment it’s currently just at the Alpha stage of things, it’s in an early build and will not be seeing a launch that’s just around the corner. That said it is scheduled for a release sometime around the second quarter of this year, but that’s about as close to an actual release date that’s been made clear for now.
