EE Now Shipping Galaxy S9 Pre-Orders, Trade-Ins Still Offered

British wireless carrier EE is now shipping pre-orders for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung’s latest pair of Android flagships announced late last month in Barcelona. The Hatfield-based company is quick to point out that its trade-in offer for either device is still live, allowing customers who are yet to purchase one of Samsung’s new handsets to save up to £250 by providing EE with their old smartphone. Both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus can be ordered from EE in Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple. The 5.8-inch model is available on a two-year EE Max plan for £10 down and £68 per month, whereas the 6.2-inch phablet is offered alongside the same subscription for a monthly fee of £78. The plan offers unlimited calls and texts, as well as 60GB of monthly data for the regular price of 20GB.

The two Android flagships are also available with all EE Essential plans, whereas the trade-in deal comes in the form of a £150 discount and £100 in credit, so long as the eligible devices being traded in are in a “good working order,” i.e. still function and aren’t damaged in a manner that affects their regular operations like e.g. a cracked screen would. Both offers are only running until March 26, EE confirmed. The prices of the two handsets are in line with those of their predecessors, with Samsung opting against increasing them despite numerous reports claiming otherwise in the run-up to the official announcement of the Galaxy S9 series.

The South Korean tech giant still hasn’t disclosed the pre-order performance of its upcoming mobile devices, suggesting the duo hasn’t attracted as many advanced orders as the Galaxy S8-series phablets did last year. Samsung is still expecting the new smartphones to ultimately surpass their predecessors which are estimated to have sold approximately 37 million units on a global level since being introduced last April, according to some industry trackers. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will officially start retailing on March 16, though most wireless carriers are now already shipping their pre-orders even though not all of them explicitly confirmed doing so like EE did.
