Google seems to be offering a limited number of users a $2 credit for their next purchase of games and apps on the Play Store. It’s worth pointing out, though, that the offer appears to be available either via an email Google is sending out to users or through a banner on the search giant’s online marketplace for Android apps. While the email states “Dive into a new game,” the credit can still be used to purchase any item on the Play Store. That means users who have received the email or are yet to get it will have the chance to snag a new premium game or app, a premium music title, a paid television show or movie, and a book for $2 off. As such, it can also render any item on the Play Store that is worth less than $2 free.
However, it remains uncertain whether the credit is available in all countries where Google Play Store is accessible or in which regions it can be used if it is on a limited basis. There’s no word as well on whether the selection of users eligible to receive the offer is made based on their location or purchasing habit on the Play Store. Keep in mind, though, that the offer is not expected to last long like the past deals offered by Google, including the $1 credit handed out to some users in July last year. If you happen to be one of the recipients of the credit, you should know that Google recently made it a lot easier to view the expiry date for the offer on the Google Play Store’s Android app. So if you have some promotional Play Store credit that is bound to expire and you have access to that functionality, you can see the exact date by which your credit will be terminated in the Payment methods section of Google Play.
You can head over to the Google Play Store to check if you happen to be eligible for the credit. The offer should come as no surprise given the fact that the Google Play Store has been struggling in the competition when it comes to generating revenue from its otherwise vast catalog of apps.
