More and more smartphones ship with display notches these days, and not all of them offer software solutions to hide those notches, but there’s an app for that now, and it’s called ‘Nacho Notch – Notch Hider’. This application popped up in the Google Play Store quite recently, and at the time of writing this article, it has only 7 reviews. The Nacho Notch application is free to use, and it has only one purpose, to hide the display notch.
Now, in order to use this application, you will need to add a new Quick Tile to your notification center, where you will be able to toggle Nacho Notch or on off. In order to hide the display notch, this application will basically make the area surrounding the notch completely black, so that the notch blends in with the display. This will look much better on AMOLED displays, of course, as they can render pitch black colors, but you can use this app with IPS LCD displays as well, of course. So, all in all, Nacho Notch is basically just a display overlay which will place black colors on the left and right side of the display notch on your smartphone. This app can be quite handy, as quite a few devices that were announced in the last couple of months sport display notches, the OPPO R15, Vivo X21, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro, Essential PH-1, and so on. Chances are we will see quite a few new phones with displays notches by the end of the year.
It is also worth noting that OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will sport a display notch as well, in case you missed that. Software on some smartphones may include a software feature like the Nacho Notch out of the box, but most of them will not, which is why this application may come in handy if you’re irritated by the display notch, and it seems like quite a few people are, at least based on comments and reactions to smartphones / smartphone leaks. If you’d like to try out this app, all you need to do is click on the link / banner down below, which will take you to the app’s Google Play Store listing.
