Samsung released a new infographic meant to list all new features and major selling points of its 2018 QLED TV lineup the company officially announced yesterday. The promo that can be seen below touts the new Direct Full Array backlighting solution as one of the main advantages of the television sets, being meant to allow for perfectly accurate screen illumination. The TVs also come equipped with the Q Engine, a new processor specifically designed for handling heavy workloads that’s capable of upscaling content in order to deliver an Ultra HD-quality image in an entirely automated manner. The latest offerings from the South Korean tech giant also utilize a new anti-reflection solution meant to support unprecedentedly steep viewing angles and boosting picture contrast under regular circumstances.
Samsung is also quick to boast about Bixby, its first AI assistant that’s deeply integrated into its 2018 QLED TVs, allowing users to control the devices using just their voice and rely on them as their smart home hubs capable of managing other appliances and gadgets from the company’s portfolio. Support for the SmartThings platform is (still) part of the package, as is a slightly redesigned remote meant to be even more comfortable to use than its predecessor. The flagship Q9SN model is also aiming to push the boundaries of overall picture quality in the consumer electronics segment, offering Samsung’s latest backlighting technologies and micro-dimming solutions combined with an 8K resolution.
All of the newly announced models feature an Ambient Mode designed to conserve energy when they are not in use while still serving as slideshow frames. As Samsung’s design chief recently explained, the feature was included with the goal of allowing the devices to blend into their environments even when they’re not in direct use while still leaving a minimal energy footprint. The latest QLED TV models are also seeking to address the issue of cluttered cables by integrating data lines with power cables as part of a setup that Samsung calls “One Invisible Connection.” The OEM’s new TV offerings will be available for purchase this spring, with their prices still being undisclosed.
