The Nest Hello is finally available for purchase, as of today. This video doorbell was announced by the company last fall at its hardware event, though there was no pricing or availability announced then. Now, it is available for $229 which puts it in line with other video doorbells out there, including its biggest competitor, Ring.
Nest Hello is a fairly simple looking video doorbell, it does blend in a bit more with the outside of your home. At the top, you’ll see the camera, which does also blend in a bit, but if you do look closely, you are able to see it. The bottom portion has a button which is essentially for ringing the doorbell. That button does have an LED around it that does light up when pressed, so you know it was pressed. The video doorbell does give you notifications on your phone when someone is at the door, even if they don’t ring the doorbell. This way you can see who’s at your door without even needing to be home or go to the door to see for yourself. This is a great way to keep an eye on your porch or front yard, when you aren’t home. The camera does do 1600×1200 resolution, so it’s not 4K quality like the Nest Cam IQ, but it is good enough to zoom in a bit if needed, without it getting too grainy. Nest Hello also has night-vision for being able to see at night, which is also a nice touch.
The Nest Hello’s main competitor is the Ring Video Doorbell Pro, which is normally $249, but has been on sale recently for around $199. Many may think that the Nest Hello is a better looking doorbell than what Ring has to offer though, but that’s going to differ by who you speak with. The Nest Hello is still pretty simple to install, and Nest even provides all of the tools you’ll need to install it, in the box. Which is a really nice trick that Nest has been doing for quite a few years now, even going back to its Learning Thermostat. You can pick up the Nest Hello video doorbell by hitting the links below.
