Nokia 8 Pro To Boast Dual Rear Cameras & Android Oreo: Rumor

A list of specifications said to belong to the Nokia 8 Pro leaked online earlier this month, suggesting HMD’s next Android flagship will provide a significant upgrade over the Nokia 8 Sirocco which the Finnish firm recently announced as part of its Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona, Spain. The handset is expected to retain the dual-camera setup of the Nokia 8 Sirocco, though its imaging setup is rumored to entail two 16-megapixel sensors, whereas its front-facing camera should be of the 13-megapixel variety.

The Nokia 8 Pro is also expected to be the first Nokia smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 845, Qualcomm’s most capable mobile chip to date, according to the same report. A 6.01-inch 18:9 display is also said to be part of the package, and while some rumors are suggesting it will only support an FHD+ resolution, HMD is unlikely to downgrade its most premium portfolio going forward given how the Nokia 8 Sirocco already boasts a 16:9 QHD screen. The Nokia 8 Pro will reportedly be offered in two variants, with its base model sporting 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash memory, whereas the more powerful version of the device should have double the storage space and 8GB of RAM. The device will supposedly come with wireless charging support and should hence feature a glass back, while its battery is said to be of the 4,000mAh variety.

While Android P is already scheduled to hit the stable channel in the third quarter of the year when the Nokia 8 Pro is expected to hit the market, insiders claim the device will still run some variant of Android Oreo out of the box. Given how all of HMD’s Nokia smartphones announced at MWC 2018 are being released as part of Google’s Android One program, the Nokia 8 Pro is likely to follow suit and offer a stock version of the world’s most popular operating system. Previous rumors suggested the Nokia 8 Pro may also be marketed as the Nokia 9 and feature an in-display fingerprint reader.
