Nokia 9 Coming In H2 2018, Along With Nokia 8 Pro: Report

It seems like the Nokia 9 is still in HMD’s plans, along with the Nokia 8 Pro. This info comes from NPU, and the source also claims that both the Nokia 8 Pro and Nokia 9 will be fueled by the same processor, the Snapdragon 845. The Nokia 8 Sirocco was launched as the Nokia 9 (2017), according to the source, which means that the Nokia 9 (2018) is coming, and HMD will probably stick to that name this time around.

The Nokia 8 Pro is expected to launch in August this year, says the source, while the Nokia 9 will arrive in September, if NPU is to be believed. Truth be said, this seems a bit odd, it’s hard to believe HMD is planning to release two flagship Nokia smartphones within a month or two, but anything is possible. The Nokia 9 will probably be considerably more expensive than the Nokia 8 Pro. says the source, and it may cost as much as the Galaxy S9 Plus, even. The Nokia 9 is expected to ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a number of other, interesting features. The Nokia 9 is also expected to sport a slightly larger display than the Nokia 8 Pro, it will allegedly come with a 5.7-inch panel, while the Nokia 8 Pro will sport a 5.5-inch display. The source did not mention anything regarding a curved display, but it is quite possible that the Nokia 9 will sport a curved panel similar to the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which is HMD’s first smartphone with a curved display.

As many of you already know, HMD has introduced five Nokia-branded smartphones during this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and those phones were amongst the most talked-about devices of the tradeshow. HMD launched the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 1 and the Nokia 8110 4G. The first three handsets are Android One phones, the Nokia 1 is an Android Go handset, while the Nokia 8110 4G is more or less a feature phone with some smartphone features. Future Nokia-branded phones will come with stock Android, and will be a part of Google’s Android One project, which is something HMD announced during MWC 2018 as well, so chances are that both the Nokia 8 Pro and Nokia 9 will sport stock Android.
