Following the OPPO R15 and R15 Pro (aka Dream Mirror Edition) announcements, the company has just introduced yet another new phone, the OPPO A1. The OPPO A1 is inferior to both the OPPO R15 and R15 Pro, but it’s also quite a bit more affordable. The device’s design, some specs, and availability info have been revealed, but OPPO is yet to release the phone’s full spec sheet, so keep that in mind.
In any case, the OPPO A1 is made out of metal, and it sports a single camera on the back, below which you will notice the company’s branding. An LED flash sits right next to the phone’s main camera, while a 3.5mm headphone jack seems to be included on the bottom of the device. A power / lock button sits on the right-hand side of the OPPO A1, while the device’s volume buttons are placed on the left. You will notice that a fingerprint scanner is missing here, and no, it is not located below the display, or anything of the sort. In order to cut the phone’s price tag, OPPO actually decided to ditch the fingerprint scanner altogether here, which is quite an interesting move. Instead of the fingerprint scanner, you can use the device’s facial recognition technology, which is a part of the offering, and which uses the phone’s front-facing snapper in order to function. Speaking of which, the device features an 8-megapixel snapper on its front side.
The OPPO A1 features a 5.7-inch display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio, while a sheet of 2.5D curved glass is placed on top of it. OPPO did not say what resolution is this phone’s display, though, but we’re looking at an either HD+ or fullHD+ display. The device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage, while a 13-megapixel snapper is included on the back of this phone, and it can provide you with images up to 50-megapixels thanks to interpolation. A 3,180mAh non-removable battery is also included here, though we still do not know what SoC fuels the OPPO A1. The phone comes in Dark Blue, Cherry Red, and White color variants, while the phone itself is priced at 1,399 Yuan ($220) in China. Those of you who live in China and are interested in getting the OPPO A1 should know that it will go on sale at 10AM on April 1, while the device is already available for pre-order.
