Samsung has just introduced its new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, in India. These two smartphones were originally introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona last month, and those same models that were announced in Barcelona have just landed in India. First and foremost, it is worth noting that the two devices are already available for pre-order in India, exclusively on Flipkart, while pre-bookings began last week on Samsung Shop. The two devices are also available for order from Paytm mall and offline, in case you were wondering, and Samsung will start shipping pre-ordered units on March 16, in case you’re wondering.
Now, in Barcelona, Samsung introduced 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage models of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, but not all those variants made their way to India. In India, 64GB and 256GB storage variants of both phones are available, Samsung has announced. The 64GB Galaxy S9 model can be purchased for Rs. 57,900 ($891) in the country, while its 256GB counterpart costs Rs. 65,900 ($1,014). A 64GB storage variant of the Galaxy S9 Plus costs Rs. 64,900 ($998), while the Galaxy S9 Plus with 256GB of native storage goes for Rs. 72,900 ($1,121). Samsung had announced Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple color options for both devices in India, though do keep in mind that 256GB storage models come in Midnight Black color only. The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus come to India with a number of launch offers, including Paytm mall cashback of Rs. 6,000 ($92), Airtel’s special ‘Double Data’ offer, and so on. You can find a full list of launch offers in the provided ‘via’ and ‘source’ links down below.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are both made out of metal and glass, though they look a bit different, thanks to the fact that the Galaxy S9 sports a single camera on the back, while the Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a dual camera setup. A rear-facing fingerprint scanner is included on both phones, and both of them are fueled by the Exynos 9810 64-bit octa-core SoC in India. The Galaxy S9 comes with 4GB of RAM, while its ‘Plus’ counterpart packs in 6GB of RAM. The Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display, while you will find such a panel on the Galaxy S9 Plus as well, though S9 Plus’ panel is a bit larger, as it measures 6.2-inches. Both devices ship with Android 8.0 Oreo, with Samsung’s Experience 9.0 UI on top of it, while both of them are capable of shooting super slow-motion video at 960 FPS, though it’s worth noting that such a video is limited to an HD (1280 x 720) resolution.
