Shadowgun Legends Registrations Open, Launch Date Confirmed

Developer Madfinger Games is now accepting pre-registrations for its latest mobile shooter Shadowgun Legends, with mobile gamers being able to register their interest in the game on the Google Play Store. The Brno, Czech Republic-based studio also confirmed the title will be released on a global level come March 22. Shadowgun Legends will be the third addition to Madfinger’s action series following the original Shadowgun released in 2011 and Shadowgun DeadZone launched a year later. Whereas the first two games were heavily inspired by Microsoft’s Gears of War series, the upcoming creation appears to be looking to emulate Destiny, being designed as a multiplayer first-person shooter with loot-based progression and raids.

The title also promises an engaging single-player experience consisting of over 200 missions spanning four distinct planets, whereas raids and other co-op levels will be part of a separate game mode. As the progression system affects both single-player and multiplayer and Madfinger is looking to combat cheating, Shadowgun Legends will require an always-on Internet connection. The game will mark the studio’s first release since 2015 and Unkilled, a zombie multiplayer shooter created following the success of its Dead Trigger franchise. While the Czech company initially experimented with a wider variety of genres, it eventually carved its niche in the first-person shooter segment on both Android and iOS. Cross-platform multiplayer should be part of the Shadowgun Legends package, much like robust character customization and light role-playing elements. The title will also utilize a Fame system which will award celebrity points for every in-game action you perform, allowing you to rank on its regional and global leaderboards while promising to lucratively reward its most famous players. Besides in-game content, the system is meant to encourage experimentation and allow players to progress without monotonous grinding.

Grinding is still understood to be a core gameplay mechanic, albeit one that should be versatile enough to prevent Shadowgun Legends from becoming boring. The title is set to launch as a free-to-play mobile game with optional in-app purchases allowing players to speed up their progression.
