Sony May Release 8-Inch & 10-Inch Tablets Soon: Report

A new report has just surfaced, and it claims that Sony is planning to release a new Android tablet in the summer. The company is allegedly preparing to announce an 8-inch and 10-inch tablets, according to a camera app teardown. References to the company’s tablets were found in the app code, mentioning both 8-inch and 10-inch models, as you can see in the provided image down below.

Now, some of you may remember that the Xperia XZ2 Pro was also rumored to arrive in the summer, so it is possible that Sony may announce all three of those devices in the summer. The Xperia XZ2 Pro will allegedly become the company’s all-new flagship smartphone, even more powerful than the recently-announced Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. The Xperia XZ2 Pro is expected to ship with 6GB of RAM, thin bezels, and a 4K display, at least if rumors are to be believed. Having said that, the company’s upcoming tablets will probably also carry the ‘Xperia XZ2’ branding, so Sony may opt for the ‘Xperia XZ2 Tablet’ naming. Sony did not introduce a tablet since 2015, as the Xperia Z4 Tablet was announced back in March that year. The Xperia Z4 Tablet was quite a compelling devices, it offered really great specs at the time, while it also came with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and that was a feature that tablets simply did not sport back then. The device was also made out of metal and glass, it had a premium design through and through.

Now, the upcoming Xperia XZ2 Tablet models will probably sport identical specs, though the 10-inch model will ship with a larger display and a larger battery, of course. The two devices will probably be fueled by one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, and we’re probably looking at the Snapdragon 835 or 845 here, though we’re only guessing. The two devices will probably be made out of metal and glass, and it is possible that we may see both 4G LTE and Wi-Fi only models. In any case, if there’s any truth to this report, more info will surely leak in the near future.
