Telegram Debuts Sticker Search & Announces 200M Monthly Active Users

Telegram has announced that it is rolling out a major update to its app on both Android and iOS (Android getting version 4.8.5 and iOS getting version 4.8), but also announced that it now has 200 million monthly active users. That’s a big milestone for Telegram, but still puts it far behind the top two messaging apps: Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, which are both over a billion.

With Telegram v4.8.5, there are three major features being debuted here. Which includes Sticker Search, Multiple-Photo Sending, and Auto-Night Mode. With Sticker Search, it’s pretty much what you’d expect. You are now able to search for stickers within the app. Which is a pretty important feature to have, especially with stickers becoming such a big industry for monetizing these messaging apps. It’s pretty similar to the GIF search that are available in keyboards like SwiftKey and Fleksy already, but for stickers. Multiple-Photo Sending is also pretty self-explanatory, Telegram is now giving you the ability to send multiple photos at once, instead of needing to send them one-by-one. Just press the plus sign in the lower right-hand corner of the image and select more images from your gallery to add to the post. Finally, there’s Auto-Night Mode, however this is only for iOS, since Android users have had this for quite some time.

Telegram continues to bring new features to its messaging app, which has helped grow the platform over the past few years. And Telegram is likely to gain a ton of users in the next week or so, with the privacy issues that Facebook is having right now – many will be looking to replace Facebook Messenger and/or WhatsApp. And that’s all due to the fact that Facebook gave information of over 50 million of its users to Cambridge Analytica to help Donald Trump get elected in the 2016 Presidential Election. Many are now deleting Facebook and moving on from the social network, and Telegram would be more than happy to welcome them.
