Xiaomi has just launched a new variant of the Redmi 5A in India, the Lake Blue model. This handset was launched in India back in November last year, it was originally available in Dark Gray and Champagne Gold color options, while the Rose Gold color arrived last month. Having said that, the Lake Blue Redmi 5A model combines Blue (back) and White (front) colors, while it is the same as all the other variants in every other aspect.
This handset is made out of metal, and it sports a single camera on its back. A fingerprint scanner is not included here, while the phone’s loudspeaker is located on its back. The Redmi 5A sports three capacitive buttons below its display, while its bezels aren’t exactly that thin, but considering its display is only 5-inches, the phone is quite compact. All the physical keys are included on the right-hand side of this smartphone, while the back side of the phone is slightly curved. This handset’s 5-inch display comes with an HD (1280 x 720) resolution, while the phone comes in both 2GB and 3GB RAM options, which ship with 16GB and 32GB of storage, respectively. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is fueled by the Snapdragon 425 64-bit quad-core processor, which is clocked at 1.4GHz, while a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also included here. A 13-megapixel snapper is located on the back of the Redmi 5A, while a 5-megapixel camera sits on the phone’s front side. Android 7.1.2 Nougat comes pre-installed on the phone, while on top of it you’ll be able to find Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 skin.
A 2GB RAM variant of the Lake Blue Redmi 5A costs Rs. 4,999, while its 3GB RAM counterpart can be purchased for Rs. 5,999. This is the same price point for all the other Redmi 5A color variants, in case you were wondering. The Redmi 5A is still available only through flash sales in India, as it gets sold out quickly, and the next flash sale is scheduled for March 22, just in case you’re interested. Now, interestingly enough, Xiaomi had managed to sell a whopping 5 million Redmi 5A units in India in the last three months (since its launch), this is something that Xiaomi mentioned today in its forum post.
