Xiaomi‘s Mi MIX 2S is set to launch today, but that hasn’t stopped what is purportedly a new hands-on video from cropping up online. The five-second clip shows the top-tier handset in a stunning white color variation but it is a bit blurry. So it’s a bit difficult to compare to what were almost certainly official images shared by both the brand’s ambassador and CEO over the past couple of weeks. The company has also been revealing some information about its specs, so there really isn’t much that the video has to offer aside from giving some reference for how it’s going to fit in-hand. The video does appear to match up well with the expectation that this will be a 5.99-inch device and the company’s statements about a dual camera setup. Perhaps best of all, there’s no notch to be found in the video. If this video really does show Xiaomi’s upcoming device, that’s bound to be among the device’s most popular features since the Apple-like notch has been appearing far too often for some Android users.
The company has also said that its Mi MIX 2S will feature AI driving those cameras’ software, backed up by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC. That’s expected to be powering the company’s Android 7.0 or 8.0-based MIUI 9. Beyond that, it’s also been suggested that wireless charging will make an appearance here for the expected 3,400mAh battery. The screen is rumored to be set at a fullHD+ resolution with AMOLED technology underneath. The chipset, meanwhile, could be coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM – or maybe even with both on offer in different versions of the handset. Among the more surprising rumors, it has been suggested that if it does arrive in two variations, the version with 8GB of RAM could arrive with a ceramic body instead of an all-metal design.
None of that speculation is going to last for very long, however, since the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is all but guaranteed to launch soon, the press conference starts in about 10 minutes.
