Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S To Sport 8GB Of RAM, Ceramic Build: Lei Jun

Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, has just confirmed that the upcoming Mi MIX 2S flagship will ship with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC will fuel the phone. In addition to that, Mr. Jun also said that the phone will be made out of ceramic, and that it will sport plenty of curves on all sides. Now, Lei Jun may be referring to the highest-end variant of the Mi MIX 2S here, as the device is expected to arrive in both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, while the 6GB RAM model may be made out of metal and glass, instead of ceramic. That was the case with the Mi MIX 2, at the very least, so the same may happen with the Mi MIX 2S, though Mr. Jun did not mention anything about a 6GB RAM model.

Now, the company’s CEO also talked about cameras, he said that if a phone sport a camera with more megapixels, it does not necessarily indicate that its camera is better than a 12-megapixel snapper on some other phone. This does not really confirm anything, but the Mi MIX 2S will sport a dual camera setup on its back, ‘AI Dual Cameras’, as Xiaomi calls them, and it is quite possible that one of those two cameras will be a 12-megapixel snapper. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will also come with wireless charging, at least according to one of Xiaomi’s teasers, while the device will sport really thin bezels, even thinner than its predecessor, the Mi MIX 2. Xiaomi’s brand ambassador, Kris Wu, revealed the design of the Mi MIX 2S quite recently, which is a design that Lei Jun confirmed by resharing those images soon after Kris Wu shared them.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will sport a ‘chin’ below the display, much like the Mi MIX 2, but it will not arrive with a display notch, which is a ‘feature’ that many Chinese smartphones are sporting these days. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will probably sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, though Mr. Wu did not share an image of the back side of the Mi MIX 2S, so we’re still not sure what exactly to expect. A Type-C USB port will be included on the bottom of the device, and chances are that we’ll get a bottom-firing loudspeaker here as well. The Mi MIX 2S will probably ship without a 3.5mm headphone jack, so keep that in mind. The phone will be announced tomorrow, during the company’s event in Shanghai.
