Anker has announced a new pair of headphones, this time they are over-ear wireless headphones, and part of the SoundCore brand. These are named the SoundCore Vortex and are wireless headphones, which will work great with virtually every smartphone out there, especially those that don’t have a headphone jack anymore. These sport Bluetooth 4.1 for connecting to your smartphone and streaming music, which Anker says the Vortex’ sports Hi-Fi Stereo sound here. Inside the SoundCore Vortex, you’ll find 40mm drivers, which will give you great sounding audio, and there is also support for aptX, which is something that not every smartphone and pair of headphones support, but it’s good that Anker does have them here. aptX is going to help provide you with high-definition sound. Now while the SoundCore Vortex are wireless headphones, you can still use them as wired headphones if you wish. There is a 3.5mm port here, and Anker does include a 3.5mm AUX cable in the box, which is a nice addition here. When talking about battery life, Anker is touting around 20 hours of playtime here. That is pretty decent for over-ear headphones here, and right at the industry average, which is pretty good too. These are lightweight headphones, allowing you to keep them on your head for long periods of time without being uncomfortable. These sport memory form ear-cups and the headband is covered in a soft, synthetic leather. This makes the Vortex look great, but also makes them comfortable.
In the box, Anker provides the AUX cable that was already mentioned, as well as a micro USB cable for charging, and a travel case. It’s interesting that Anker is using a micro USB port here, but that was likely to keep the price down, as a USB-C port would have cost a bit more. Anker does provide a 18-month warranty with the Vortex, and that is standard for all of Anker’s products.
