B&O has announced a new wireless speaker, in the Beoplay P6. It’s a new speaker that’s going to set you back $399, when it launches on April 23. This is a slightly different speaker than what B&O typically releases. This one sports 360-degree audio, so you can truly fill a room with audio using this speaker. But that’s not all, it also sports 16 hours of continuous playback. Which is pretty impressive for a speaker of this size, and puts it ahead of the industry average of around 12 to 15 hours on speakers of this size. On top of that, it can fully recharge in just under three hours, and that is through the USB-C port found on the Beoplay P6.
The Beoplay P6 is an aluminum unibody speaker, that does look really nice. It has a leather strap on the side that works as a handle, so you can carry it wherever you want. It’s actually not all that large. For those wondering, its dimensions are 170 x 130 x 68 mm. B&O has not stated how heavy it is. Now when it comes to audio quality, B&O has True360 Bang & Olufsen Signature Sound, as well as full digital crossover design that is optimized for uniform radiation of sound. B&O does not mention what size tweeters or subwoofers inside the Beoplay P6. But if you have listened to any other Bang & Olufsen speakers or headphones, then you definitely know what to expect when it comes to audio here.
Along with great audio, B&O has included a microphone so you can take calls through the speaker, and you can also use it to access digital assistants like Google Assistant and Amaozn Alexa. The Beoplay P6 can be paired with other speakers as well, so you can enjoy true stereo sound here. Finally, the Beoplay P6 is dust and splash proof with a rating of IP54. Now this means that it can take some splashes, but it can’t be submerged in a sink, pool, shower etc. So keep that in mind before purchasing. As mentioned, the Beoplay P6 officially launches on April 23, but it is available for pre-order now through Amazon. B&O is offering it in two colors: Black and Natural. The Natural color is more of a silver color with a tan leather strap. While the black model is all black – and actually looks a bit more like a matte black speaker.
