CASIO's Latest PRO TREK Smartwatch Launches In May

CASIO’s latest PRO TREK smartwatch is launching in the U.S. in May. Officially called the WSD-F20A the watch will be the first device from CASIO that comes with Wear OS, though it’s important to note that Wear OS is just the re-brand of Android Wear and not really a new operating system. As smartwatches go CASIO’s options have never been the most competitive on pricing, with its last two watches running on Android Wear having been upwards of $500 USD. The good news for those who like CASIO and have had a desire to pick up one of the previous PRO TREK offerings is that the new WSD-F20A will be available at a lower price point.

That said, the watch will still be fairly high compared to some of the competition as it will retail for $399, but this is still a $100 drop from the older smartwatches and is more in line with what else is out there for consumer choices in this particular device market. The design of the WSD-F20A has not really changed much from the WSD F20 that CASIO launched in 2017, in fact it hasn’t really changed at all save for the Indigo color of the watch case that surrounds the display. It does however come with new hardware and that’s the important part alongside the new lower cost.

In regards to features there is a lot to love about the CASIO PRO TREK WSD-F20A if you’re looking for a watch that is geared more towards the outdoorsy type. It has a water resistance rating of up to 50 meters, and it’s fitted with the same durability rating of military-spec 810G as past watches. In short, you should have nothing to worry about if you accidentally drop it and you can feel free to wear it in the shower or even for a dip while still wearing it. It also has integrated altimeters, a barometer, a digital compass, and of course it tracks your activities like steps taken and calories burned among others, and since it runs on Wear OS it has the Play Store and access to tons of different apps to bolster its effectiveness as a piece of wearable tech. The WSD-F20A will be available at various retailers, though CASIO doesn’t mention which outside of its own online shop, and it doesn’t state exactly when in May you’ll be able to pick one up.
