The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S was announced quite recently, and the first teardown of this smartphone has just surfaced in China. Sina Technology performed the procedure, and unsurprisingly, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is quite similar to the Mi MIX 2 as far as internals are concerned, as the device sports an almost identical design to the Mi MIX 2. This teardown, in addition to confirming the phone’s specs, also gives you plenty of info as to how to disassemble the device, just in case you need to fix it, or you need to provide some info to your local repair shop.
Having said that, you will find quite a few images in the gallery down below, which will not exactly lead you through the teardown process, but they do show you the phone’s internals. Before you begin the teardown process, you’ll need to power off the device, and remove its SIM card tray. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S does not come with waterproofing or anything of the sort, so its back cover should be easier to remove than the back cover on other devices, but you will still be required to apply some heat on it, in order to separate it from the base of the device. After you do that, you will need a strong suction cup, and a pick to separate the device, but be careful not to cut the fingerprint scanner ribbon which is attached to the back side of the phone, you’ll need to detach it before completely removing the phone’s back side. From this point, the rest of the process is pretty straightforward, you will need to take off one component at a time, but the first thing you’ll need to do is remove that metal plate which protects some of the phone’s internals.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is made out of ceramic, Xiaomi had introduced both 6GB and 8GB RAM variants of the device, and they’re both made out of ceramic this time around. It is worth saying that only the 8GB RAM model of the Mi MIX 2S comes with support for global 4G LTE bands, while the phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC. The phone features a 5.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, and unlike the Mi MIX 2, comes with a dual camera setup on its back.
