Galaxy Dream Lite Will Likely Be A China-Only Smartphone

Based on a recent certification, it seems that Samsung will launch a smartphone specific to the Chinese market, and it will be named the Samsung Galaxy Dream Lite. This smartphone, which could be identified by the model number SM-G8750, has been previously rumored to be the Galaxy S9 Mini. However, a recent Bluetooth certification shows that SM-G8750 will instead be named as the Galaxy Dream Lite. In addition, the name of the smartphone is followed by the code “CN China”, which could mean that the handset will only be available in China.

A recent Geekbench benchmark listing provided few details regarding the specifications of the Galaxy Dream Lite. According to the Geekbench listing, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset from the semiconductor firm Qualcomm. This SoC is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 260 64-bit CPU and the Adreno 512 GPU. In addition, the benchmark noted that the device will have 4GB of RAM and that the smartphone will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. However, it is likely that Samsung’s proprietary skin will run on top of Google’s operating system. In addition, the Bluetooth certification mentioned that the Galaxy Dream Lite will support Bluetooth 5.0. This connectivity standard allows the handset to connect to two different wireless devices simultaneously, and it also offers increased range despite the reduced power consumption.

The report also mentioned that a similar device has been recently certified by TENAA, and this handset can be identified by the model number SM-G8850. Images of this smartphone have already been released by the telecommunications regulator, and it could sport the same design as the Galaxy Dream Lite. The images show that the device will have dual rear cameras, which are placed in the upper left corner of the back panel. The handset’s fingerprint sensor is also located on the rear panel. The dual rear cameras are arranged vertically, and directly below the shooters, users will find the LED flash. It is important to note that while the SM-G8850 could have the same design as the Galaxy Dream Lite, this variant is powered by a more powerful chipset, which is Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 SoC. This is the same chipset that powers the international variant of the Galaxy S9.
