HMD Global has just launched three Nokia-branded smartphones in India, the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, and the Nokia 8 Sirocco. All three of these handsets were initially announced back in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and all three of those devices are a part of Google’s Android One initiative, which essentially means they all run stock Android, and they should be amongst first devices to get new Android updates. It is worth noting that HMD confirmed that upcoming Nokia-branded phones will ship with stock Android as well. During the launch, HMD promised that all three of those devices will get monthly security update, while the company also promised that they will be updated to Android P once the update becomes available. Having said that, we’ve played around with all three of these devices in Barcelona, and they all sport really solid build.
The Nokia 6 (2018) is the most affordable out of these three devices, though it comes with mid-range specifications, which are quite solid. The Nokia 6 (2018) comes with a metallic frame, while it sports a single camera on the back, and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. All the physical keys are placed on the right-hand side of this phone, while the device’s SIM card tray sits on the left. The Nokia 6 features Nokia’s branding both on its front and back sides, while it sports a 5.5-inch fullHD display. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 630 64-bit octa-core processor, and it packs in 3GB of RAM, along with 32GB of expandable storage. Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device, while a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of the package. A 16-megapixel camera is included on the back of the Nokia 6 (2018), while an 8-megapixel snapper can be found on the device’s front side. The device comes in Black / Copper, White / Iron, and Blue / Gold color variants, while it is priced at Rs. 16,999 ($261) in India. The device will become available on April 6 on Nokia Mobile’s online shop, and via offline channels as well.
The Nokia 7 Plus, on the other hand, sports noticeably thinner bezels than the Nokia 6 (2018), and its display comes with rounded corners as well. The Nokia 7 Plus also comes with a dual camera setup on the back, and Carl ZEISS optics. The device features 12 and 13-megapixel snappers on the back, along with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, while a 16-megapixel camera is included on the device’s front side. A 3,800mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package, while a 6-inch fullHD+ display is included on the device as well, with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core processor, while it comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. This phone offers two SIM card slots (hybrid dual SIM setup), while the Nokia OZO Audio is also included in the package. The Nokia 7 Plus comes in Black / Copper, and White / Copper color variants, and it is priced at Rs. 25,999 ($399). The phone will become available starting on April 30, while pre-bookings will open on April 20 on Amazon.in, Nokia mobile shop, and some retail stores.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco is the most powerful Nokia-branded, Android-powered smartphone to date. This handset comes with a curved 5.5-inch QHD P-OLED display, while the phone is made out of metal and glass. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, while it packs in 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the device, while a 3,260mAh non-removable battery is also a part of the package. Wireless charging is also a part of the package, while the phone sports 12 and 13-megapixel snappers on the back, along with ZEISS Optics, same as the Nokia 7 Plus.
