Hotel Hideaway Android MMORPG Focuses On Relaxation

Hotel Hideaway is the name of the latest MMORPG for Android devices that hit the Google Play Store yesterday, with the Sulake-developed title seeking to differentiate itself from its rivals by not placing a focus on combat and adrenaline-induced clashes. Instead, the main goal of Hotel Hideaway is relaxation and enjoying a vast virtual world with one’s friends and other players, Sulake says. The game allows one to create and customize a digital avatar in great detail and explore a hotel hub, alone or with partners. The formula itself is somewhat reminiscent of social network service Habbo, Sulake’s most well-known project to date, and comes 17 years after the Finnish company initially launched the platform that once upon a team competed with Club Penguin.

As is the case with Sulake’s previous offering, Hotel Hideaway allows players to communicate via text and also adds gestures to the mix with the goal of ennobling interactions. Leveling up one’s character will unlock new costumes, gestures, hairstyles, and other content that will allow players to strengthen their friendships with others and make their characters even more unique. A wide variety of mini-games is also part of the package, with many of them being created by Hotel Hideaway players themselves. In overall, the game represents the “summation” of all work Sulake ever did in terms of social experiences on mobile platforms, Game Lead Simo Piispanen said in a statement. The game is also set to adopt Apple’s ARKit later this spring, though it’s presently unclear whether similar augmented reality features powered by Google’s ARCore can also be expected on Android devices in the future.

Despite its picturesque visuals and laidback nature, Hotel Hideaway is still rated for players aged 17 and up. The game is available on the majority of contemporary Android smartphones and tablets, with its only official requirement being a device running Android 5.0 Lollipop or a newer build of the Google-made mobile operating system. Hotel Hideaway is presently enjoying an overwhelmingly positive response from the Android community, being rated at 4.8 stars based on thousands of initial reviews.
